Redesigning and Hiring

We've recently spent some time redesigning Garlic City Review's blogs. Just some slight modifications using Blogger's template editing tools. We hope it makes navigating a little easier, and maybe, the site looks even cooler than it had before. (Though I know that's hard to imagine!)

I've also spoken to our other reviewer (uh-hum), who I'll leave nameless here, trying to spur him on to producing more reviews. That unnamed person is surely a great writer, but though his greatness may arrive like the smell of garlic (sudden and powerful), he hasn't been spicing GCR with any writing lately.

On that note, I've also been thinking about bringing on more writers from Gilroy. Here in Garlic City, we have a quite a large writing community, and taping into it may be a good idea. Hopefully, we'll finish 2009, and enter 2010, with a bang!

Until next time!

The Lack of Abundance and Reviews

The economic crises has impacted the country harshly, and even here in Garlic City, we can feel the effects. Many restaurants have closed, and at the same time me and Chuy have had to cut back on our respective budgets, generating less food reviews. Going out to catch a movie has also slid down on the priority list, so less movie reviews as well. Luckily there are still the free public libraries, (though we are sorely in need of a new one here in Gilroy), and many book reviews are forthcoming.

All in all, our slacking off on writing new reviews has finally met its match in the diminishing opportunities to write new ones. It has whetted my appetite however, to generate new material now that the material is hard to come by. Such is life, taking for granted what we have, wanting it all the more when it is gone. So Chuy, my friend, here are my thoughts:

This year, 2009, let's go forward writing, always writing, sparse material be damned! Let's write through these tough times, and maybe we'll become tough enough to continue to write, even when the economy becomes as abundant as the Garlic in the air, and smelling success becomes all we want to do.

The Garlic Expansionist

Hey, Chuy added a post! Things are looking good for 2008! In that regard, its well into the year, but we continue on and plan on posting more and more reviews, rating by garlic of course. The GCR has been expanding, adding food reviews, so enjoy the new reviews.

Ramblin' On

I recently updated our blog layout here at the GCR, and please explore. There isn't much new content yet (I'm still waiting for Chuy's computer to resolve it's issues and let him post), but this is a work in progress, so we'll proceed to progress I promise. So either the next post will be from Chuy with some insightful and entertaining review I'm sure, or maybe I'll beat him to another review. I can ramble on for quite some time. Kinda like I'm doing now. So, look around, and hey, feel free to leave a comment and let us know what you think.

G-City Review Kick-Off

So this is the kick-off of the Garlic City Review. Why do this? To speak our minds, voice our opinions, and let others know what we think about everything from the important issues to what may be perhaps nonsense. Who's to say? Plus we're bored. We spend enough time talking to each other about all this stuff, so much time that we're starting to repeat ourselves. It's time you get in on the action, and hear what may be considered by some pearls of wisdom, if by others the ramblings of madmen. You know, sharing the love. Or maybe the pain. That said, prepare yourselves for what may be almost slightly more than your average blog page experience...
You may actually visit us again!
